SQUAW CREEK We went to Squaw Creek 1-15-00 just to get some bottom time in some water that will not turn your skin blue in Jan. The water temp was 70 and the viss was 2'. The site we dove was past the swim area a half mile or so. As you come into the park watch for the sign that reads swim area, turn left onto a gravel road. This will take you to the swim area where most of the open water training takes place (not much to see here). Keep going to your right through the gate and then on to the picnic table on your left just before you go out the next gate onto the paved road. Just in front of the table is an easy entry point with a nice rock ledge that you can sit down on and slip into your gear. There is some stuff to look at around 20', lawn mower, counter with a sink, big truck tire on rim, paper machine and assorted other junk. If you would like a long swim or have a boat there is a submerged house across the lake from this site. Just look across the lake and you will see three power line towers, set a heading for the center one (the one with the radio tower next to it) and stick close to the bottom (40') and you should run into it. Be sure to use a flag in case you need to surface as there is lots of boat traffic. The house is 3/4 of the way across the lake so don't spend to much time there once you find it because you will need the air for the return swim and you do not want to do this on the surface. If you have a question just drop me an e-mail. If you have dove Squaw Creek and have more info on it PLEASE send it to me. One last thing, bring all the air you need with you because the nearest dive shop is Scuba School forty miles away in Fort Worth and they are not open on Sunday. DIVE SAFE YA'LL
